Research Positions
Research Assistant (Mechanical-Electrical)
Job Responsibilities:
(a) Providing technical support to selection and setup of mechanical and electrical products ;
(b) Prototype fabricating testing, evaluating and improvement of products/ parts;
(c) Testing and error analysis of mechanical-electrical-optical products;
(d) Cooperation with the areas of warehouse, purchasing and work preparation;
Job Requirements:
(a) A Higher Diploma/ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Automation Engineering, Optic Engineering or related discipline;
(b) Have solid knowledge of servo motor, controller and sensors, etc.;
(c) Be familiar with signal and project execution capability;
(d) Have strong problem-solving skills and project execution capability;
(e) Have self-motivation so as to work independently/ co-operatively with other team members;
(f) Work experience in robotics will be advantageous;
Postdoctoral Fellow(s) / Research Assistant(s) in robot learning and control:
The appointee will be responsible for developing autonomous manipulation capabilities for various manipulation tasks (mobile manipulation, surgical tasks, etc.).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor/Master/PhD in Robotics, Control, Software Engineering or related disciplines.
- Programming skills in C++, Python, ROS tools and libraries.
- Solid experience with data-driven and machine learning techniques.
- Experience with the training and deployment of learning-based controllers (e.g., reinforcement learning and imitation learning) on physical robots is highly preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and project execution capability.
- Self-motivation to work independently/cooperatively with other team members.
- Good English communication skills would be a plus.
- Qualifications from the top 100 institutions in the latest publication of any of the following world university rankings (i.e. QS, THE, ARWU and USNWR) are preferred.
Postdoctoral Fellow(s) / Research Assistant(s) in mechanical design:
The appointee will be responsible for designing robotic systems (e.g., locomotion systems and surgical devices).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor/Master/PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Practical experience in metal part machining, 3D printing, and laser cutting.
- Rich experience in designing reliable and good performance robotic systems, especially whole robot design abilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and project execution capability.
- Self-motivation to work independently/cooperatively with other team members.
- Good English communication skills would be a plus.
- Qualifications from the top 100 institutions in the latest publication of any of the following world university rankings (i.e. QS, THE, ARWU and USNWR) are preferred.
Postdoctoral Fellow(s) / Research Assistant(s) in robotics:
The appointee will be responsible for (a) bringing up robotic systems (e.g., surgical devices, mobile manipulators, and locomotion systems), (b) developing embedded systems, (c) developing control algorithms, (d) sourcing the required electronic components, and more.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor/Master/PhD in Robotics, Control, Software Engineering or related disciplines.
- Programming skills in C++, Python, ROS tools and libraries.
- Solid knowledge on robotic theories.
- Rich experience in bringing up reliable and good performance robotic systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and project execution capability.
- Self-motivation to work independently/cooperatively with other team members.
- Good English communication skills would be a plus.

Postdoctoral Fellow(s) / Research Assistant(s) in teleoperation and haptics:
The appointee will be responsible for developing an intuitive and human-centric teleoperation system with haptics feedback based on our existing solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor/Master/PhD in Robotics, Control or related disciplines.
- Programming skills in C++, Python, ROS tools and libraries.
- Experience with kinematics/dynamics modelling.
- Hands-on experience with teleoperation system development (software) and bring-up (hardware and software).
- Hands-on experience with shared control of robotic systems, including human-robot interaction (admittance control/ haptics feedback) and robot-environment contact handling.
- Strong problem-solving skills and project execution capability.
- Self-motivation to work independently/cooperatively with other team members.
- Good English communication skills would be a plus.
- Qualifications from the top 100 institutions in the latest publication of any of the following world university rankings (i.e. QS, THE, ARWU and USNWR) are preferred.
